Aurélien Tchouameni 69th AS Monaco player selected in Blue
Called for the first time by Didier Deschamps to the French team for the September matches, Aurélien Tchouameni continues the long tradition of AS Monaco players selected in Blue.
The story has been going on for decades and it is not about to end. It is renewed and continues since Thursday and the announcement by Didier Deschamps of the list of the France team for the next three qualifying matches for the 2022 World Cup, against Bosnia-Herzegovina, Ukraine and Finland. Among the 23 players selected by the coach of the Blues is indeed a player from Monaco: Aurélien Tchouameni, who will undoubtedly honor his first cape on this occasion.

In Niko Kovac’s current squad, “Tchouam” will be the fourth international tricolor, with world champion Djibril Sidibé, Wissam Ben Yedder and Ruben Aguilar. The number 8 of the Red and White is now 69e player playing AS Monaco to be called up for the France team. Only Olympique de Marseille did better, with 81 elements.
Five Monegasques world champions with the Blues
“Official supplier” of French internationals, very often trained at the club, AS Monaco has counted in its ranks legends of the Blues such as Manuel Amoros, international 61 times during his visit to the Rock and European champion in 1984 like Bruno Bellone (31), Yvon Le Roux (10), Bernard Genghini (9) and Daniel Bravo (5).
Closer to home, the two-time world champions sacred Blues also had a touch of red and white, with Fabien Barthez (37), Thierry Henry (11) and David Trezeguet (21) in 1998, then Djibril Sidibé (18) and Thomas Lemar (13) in 2018. In total, AS Monaco players have accumulated 553 selections for the French team during their time at the club. Only OM, PSG and Lyon did better.
