Croatia grants 5G licenses
Croatian regulator HAKOM) has allocated radio frequency spectrum in 700 MHz (758-788 / 703-733), 3600 MHz (3400-3800 MHz) and 26 GHz frequency bands (26.5-27.5 GHz) for 5G mobile communication networks.
Telemach Hrvatska, Hrvastki Telekom and A1 Hrvatska received awards for the 700 MHz band at the national level for a total of HRK 139,989,998 (EUR 18,642,400). While Telemach Hrvatska and Hrvastki Telekom will be charged HRK 46,094,099 each, A1 Croatia will have to pay HRK 45,000,000.
These three companies also received licenses on 3600 MHz at the national level, for which they will have to pay HRK 54,455,750, HRK 66,765,750 and HRK 52,920,000. Also at the national level, along with Eola, they received licenses in the 25 GHz band, but with significantly lower fees.
Eolo, Eco Net, Terrakom, BeeIN, Digicom and Markoja received licenses at the 3600 MHz regional auction.
HAKOM notes that the bidding process began on July 12, and the decision on the selection of the most favorable bidders and the issuance of licenses was made on August 12. Licenses have been issued for 15 years for all allocation areas, except in the case of Međimurje and Varaždin counties, where there are already licenses for various 5G technologies valid until 2023, and for these areas exceptionally new licenses are issued for 13 years.
The total collected for the state at the auction amounted to 358,995,433 kuna.
