The future of Prague Airport: A runway, expressway and park will be added
Prague Airport should become a more modern environment full of greenery in the coming years. The construction of a new runway and expressway, which will transport passengers from the airport to Brno, is planned. Prague Airport, the contracting authority for the reconstruction of the entire complex, wants to modernize, clarify the airport and place pedestrians in the center of attention. While the new runway should be operational within about ten years, the date of the entire airport’s transformation is not yet known.
Prague Airport is now negotiating with the Railway Administration about the expressway that would transport passengers from the airport via Prague by a direct line to Brno. Prague Airport has announced an architectural competition to transform the entire airport, the winner of which was the Rala studio. However, Prague Airport is still thinking about the concrete and final form of the whole transformation.
However, the planned changes should concern the visible modernization and improvement of the outdoor area in front of the first and second terminals, which should turn green. According to the winning visualizations, the final final form of the airport management now, a park full of greenery with benches should be created at the airport, which should make waiting for their flight more pleasant for passengers.
But there is also talk of a new parallel track. Its construction is currently in the process of applying for a zoning decision, however, construction is currently scheduled to begin in 2028 and complete in 2031. Although some residents in the surrounding areas are rebelling against this plan, step.
