They sang the official anthems of the fans of the Croatian national football team for the World Cup and Euro tournaments for men, and now the Zaprešić Boys have announced the anthem for Euro 2020, which starts next month.
Over the years, the Zaprešić Boys have had a number of big hits with the anthems of Croatian fans, such as ‘Srce vatreno’, ‘Samo je jedno’, ‘Indescribable’ and ‘Igraj moja Hrvatska’ from the 2018 World Cup.
The Euro 2020 anthem, entitled “8 letters” (8 letters – refers to Croatia) is a collaboration with the band Opća Opasnost. The two groups met during a trip to Australia in 2018, and their friendship led to a collaboration.
The song “8 letters” alludes to the beauty of Croatia, which “shines even in the dark” and is a story about the permanently engraved love that boys have for their country from the very beginning of their lives.
More than 300 people participated in the filming of the video for “8 letters” which pays tribute to the activities and people who have borne the heaviest burden in the last year due to earthquakes and pandemics – health workers, Croatian Mountain Rescue Service, firefighters, army and Civil Protection.
The song is signed by Marko Novosel, the music is signed by Ante Pecotić arranged by Bojan Šalamon – Shalla and Branimir Jovanovac.
