Tomorrow’s schedule
Iceland wakes up
(‘Iceland Wakes Up’) on radio station K100 is broadcasting live today from the volcanoes in Geldingadal, Fagradalsfjall, Southwest Iceland,
mbl.is
reports.
The program started at 7 a.m. and is broadcast live – video and sound – all over the country on FM 100.5, as well as on
mbl.is
and on Rás 9 in Tjónvarp Síminn.
“This week it was decided to try to broadcast an entire program directly from an active volcano,” says Jón Axel Ólafsson, who runs the program together with Ásgeir Páli and Kristína Sif. “Despite extensive internet searches, we have not found a single radio program with a volcanic eruption in the background.
“Many people are involved in the project with us: technicians, assistants, communications experts, photographers and more,” he explains. Even chef Völundur Snær participates by sharing his experience. Jón Axel notes that Völundur is known for being innovative when it comes to cooking at soda stations.
