Epidemiology commentary:
In the Central Bohemian Region, the epidemiological situation in the incidence of COVID19 is significantly worsened, the daily increments are the highest in the Czech Republic, which is evidenced by the average daily increment, which is currently at 1480 (7-day average). This high number is subsequently reflected in the values of both 7-day (734 cases per 100,000 population) and 14-day incidence (1,580 cases per 100,000 population), although these values are slightly lower than previous weeks (86.9% of the previous week). ), so there is no significant improvement in the situation, including daily numbers are still very high, seizures in the senior group, the share of the total number of cases in this group is 17% and the daily average for 7 days is in the category of 250 cases. In the districts, the share in the age category 65+ ranges from 10 to 22% of the total number of cases, the highest seizures in the senior group Příbram, Mělník and Kladno. The community transmission of the Central Bohemian Region continues to be observed, ie the still high number of cases in which the source of the infection is unknown. A worrying aspect is the increase in the incidence and positive seizures in social service providers’ facilities, which means a significant impact on the vulnerable group and has a significant potential for further spread in these facilities, both for staff and clients, given the health status and high age of clients , in the case of positivity, there may be a deterioration in the care of the underlying disease and the necessary hospitalization, often when the need for translation to the intensive care unit is necessary, which may progress to pressure on the capacity of inpatient and intensive care. An increased number of seizures by staff can then lead to reduced care. The worsening epidemiological situation and the increase in the number of cases, including the number of cases reported in the elderly, continuously increase the number of hospitalized, including hospitalizations in intensive care units. Due to the significant increase in the number of diagnosed cases and related indications for laboratory examination at epidemiologically significant contacts in recent days and thus increase the number of cases in the following days. Based on the analysis of relevant parameters for inclusion in individual levels of emergency, including epidemiological criteria, it was decided that due to the significantly worsened current epidemiological situation in the Central Bohemian Region in the elderly population, occurrences in health care facilities in the facilities of social service providers show an increase that the Central Bohemian Region will continue to be included in the emergency level III, the so-called red zone.

What is the risk score
Score 0-1: | insignificant (rare) occurrence of the disease, minimal risk |
Score 2-4: | sporadic, unrelated, occurrences without significant long-term trend, low risk |
Score 5-7: | occurrence trend typically associated with the risk of community spread of the disease, or the risk of intervention by vulnerable groups |
Score 8-10: | escalation of the incidence of the disease over time, increasing number of hospitalizations, the highest risk |
Degree of alert
Epidemiological criterion | Characteristics | |
---|---|---|
0 | Zero or negligible risk | Zero or isolated occurrence of the disease in the evaluated area of the Czech Republic: quite typical max. Detection during the week up to 5 newly diagnosed patients per day, sporadic, unrelated cases. |
me (1) | Occurrence of the disease in the Czech Republic without community transmission | There are sporadic cases. There are local clusters. There are local epidemics. There are combinations: sporadic cases / local clusters / local epidemics. |
II (2) | Beginning community transmission in the Czech Republic | An increasing proportion of cases in which the source of the infection is not clear. In this situation, the disease begins to spread to a population not yet affected, such as those who have not been in the affected area or have not been in contact with a known source of the disease. Community transmission is characterized by a 30% or higher proportion of cases in which the source of the disease is not clear or have not been imported, with a total weekly number of newly diagnosed persons in the area of 30 / 100,000 inhabitants or higher. In this situation, the disease begins to spread to a population not yet affected, such as those who have not been in the affected area or have not been in contact with a known source of the disease. |
