“Stay home” didn’t work. The largest flea market in Prague is full of people
The government banned the free movement of people, closed the restaurant and some shops. Nevertheless, many people went shopping over the weekend. Farmers’ and flea markets have remained open in many places.
Hundreds of people gathered in Prague’s Hloubětín before noon on Saturday. They set out for the large area of the flea market near Elektra among stallholders and sellers, who simply spread their goods on the ground. everyone usually wears veils, with the spacing it is weaker.
Take a look at the pictures from the flea market in Prague:
Only the stores listed in the government resolution, which came into force on Thursday morning, have an exception to the government ban. Some goods from Prague’s largest flea market certainly fall into these exceptions, such as food or spare parts for vehicles, but a large part of the range on offer would hardly fit into government boxes.
It is possible to buy sweets, used car wheels, work tools or drugstore goods on the market. But also ball pistols, clothes and old porcelain.
The government does not address the markets at all. Farmers’ markets therefore remained open, thanks to the experience of the spring, when the government initially banned them, but then reopened them under hygienic conditions, ie available disinfectants, the use of drapes and breaches of spacing.
“In the spring we won it a bit and bore fruit. At that time, we protested against discrimination, “Jiří Sedláček, chairman of the Association of Farmers’ Markets, told ČTK.
Náplavka in Prague
The Prague City Hall and its company Trade Center Prague (TCP), which manages the Prague embankments, on Friday recommended the operators of farmers’ markets on Rašínovo nábřeží to cancel them. Even so, they took place today. According to the chairman of the organizing association Archetype Jiří Sedláček, visitors observed hygienic measures. Unlike the spring, they do not now apply to government markets and can take place. City police have stepped up patrols on the embankment. The markets, which take place every Saturday from 8:00 to 14:00, have attracted a large number of visitors today.
This regime also applies to flea markets, the government has not specified. Flea markets at Elektra in Hloubětín, Prague, draw attention to the use of drapes and compliance with the need for spacing. The website also states that the stands must be available for disinfection and stand at least two meters apart.
