The materialization of hope against feelings of futility. Prague 7 already has a new town hall
The new town hall was finally built according to the design of the Atelier point architects Holešovice studio, closer to the Libeň Bridge. The complete reconstruction, during which only the skeleton remained from the original building, cost 362 million crowns without VAT. The house with a facade of unplastered bricks and a floor area of about five thousand square meters has seven floors and through each door you can see through transparent round glass to the office of about two hundred officials who have already completely moved from the current headquarters on the embankment of Captain Jaroš.
Most cocaine in wastewater is in Holešovice. When do Praguers take ecstasy?
The dominant feature of the building is the entrance hall with “artistic” spiral stairs, which lead to the most visited agendas of the office, such as the issuance of documents or the registry office. The council meeting room is in the basement and a smaller meeting room by the roof terrace with views of the surrounding area. This room should also be a venue for welcoming citizens or smaller weddings.
Today’s management of Prague 7 demands that it reach the new town hall, as promised during the referendum against the previous project – with a total of up to half a billion crowns and thanks to an open international architectural competition. Seventy studies from eighteen countries have appeared. In the end, the winner was the local team from Holešovice.
The construction took over two years
“I am grateful for the trust we have received. Frankly, at the moment of winning the competition, we didn’t have such a big realization. At the beginning, we were faced with several fundamental questions – how to maximize the capacity of the building for the needs of the office, how to make the premises more transparent and beautiful, and at the same time keep them in accordance with the industrial character of Holešovice. I think we have succeeded in everything, “said architect Vojtěch Sosna from the winning studio.
The Deputy Mayor of Prague 7 Pavel Zelenka (Prague himself) pointed out that this is the first completed construction of a public building in Prague, which arose from an open international competition. “We wanted to prove that the public sphere is also speed and efficiency. The complicated construction itself lasted a little over two years and the price of 76 thousand crowns per square meter, including built-in furniture and air conditioning, I think is also very solid, “said Zelenka, who was in charge of the new town hall project.
Provisional for almost 80 years. Now the Holešovice fire station went to the ground
In addition, according to Zelenka, the city district will save millions of crowns a year in the rent it pays to the General Financial Directorate for the premises in the palace on the embankment of Captain Jaroš.
“In the first four days after the move, there is also a noticeable change in the atmosphere, which he explains by arranging the reconstructed building. In the old one, the employees had a problem meeting at all…, “added Zelenka, adding that his team can defend the final form precisely because it sat together with experts in the competition committee and got to know the project” tailored to the needs of the city district “.
Senator for Prague 7 Václav Hampl then described the event as “the embodiment of hope against feelings of futility” during the official opening of the town hall.
The capacity of the information center has expanded
“We entered the referendum of the financial limit with a large reserve and we are at about a third of the cost of the original madman. In addition, people from Prague 7 have a beautiful town hall. Thanks to an international architectural competition, we were able to choose from designs from studios around the world. This is a great success in Prague and a confirmation that the architectural competition for a public building can end in a successful implementation and does not deceive, as has unfortunately often been the case in the past, “added Mayor Jan Čižinský.
Summary With the opening of the new town hall, it expanded the capacity of the Prague 7 information center in Letná, where it is possible to handle the most common tasks, such as applications for parking permits or official verification of documents.
