Prague is the 13th best city to live in the world, according to a survey
Zurich took the first place in the ranking, followed by Vienna. At the same time, these two cities have been at the forefront of similar surveys for a long time.
Prague received an exceptionally good position in the ranking mainly due to its safety and the number of doctors. According to D Partners, the capital has one of the densest networks of surgeries in the world.
Europe and then nothing for a long time
The ranking is dominated by European cities, which occupied 15 positions out of the top twenty. They were joined by four cities from North America and only one Asian one, namely Taipei.
The ten richest cities in the world did not do very well in the ranking. London ranked 33rd, New York up to 38th. According to the authors of the ranking, this result implies that the richest cities may not be rated as the most successful from a certain point of view.
The index divides cities from developed and developing countries. In this second category of countries, St. Petersburg ranked best in 50th place, followed by Bucharest in 53rd place and Moscow in 59th place.
Cairo is the worst
Cairo ranked last in the ranking. Cities from Asia, Africa and South America, in which, according to the authors, there is great poverty and inequality, took the last few dozen places overall. Of the developed cities, the metropolis of Kuwait ranked worst, occupying the 77th place overall.
D Partners assessed the quality of life in cities based on three pillars. The first of these concerns the level of income, including in which cities inequalities prevail and what opportunities residents have, for example, in access to education. The second pillar deals with how different groups of the population can participate in the running of society. The third pillar then measures the quality of the infrastructure, the availability of housing or enough job opportunities.
