The construction industry is experiencing a deep crisis, the state has significantly reduced investment
This follows from the data of the engineering company ÚRS Praha. The largest contracting authority from the government sector was the Roads and Motorways Directorate with 16 billion crowns and from the municipal sector Vysočina Region (1.8 billion crowns).
“The decrease is mainly due to a decrease in the award of large construction contracts, mainly in transport infrastructure in connection with the transition to the new programming period of European funds and also the failure to solve problems with environmental impact assessment,” said Director of Engineering ÚRS Prague Zdeněk Kunc.
The value of orders for civil engineering to reduce the percentage by 15 billion crowns and for civil engineering by 39.3 billion crowns to 54.2 crowns. The average contract size was 19.2 million crowns, four percent less than last year’s average.
By the end of October, four construction contracts with a price of over one billion crowns had been awarded. The first was the modernization of the D1 motorway in the Psáře – Soutice section for 1.13 billion crowns. The contract was awarded to the association Metrostav, Swietelsky stavební. The second is the repair of the railway line in the section Opava East – Olomouc Main Railway Station for 1.03 billion crowns, which was received by Strabag Rail. The third is the revitalization of the Okříšky – Zastávka u Brna line for 1.14 billion crowns, also for Strabag Rail. The fourth contract belongs to Eurovia. This involves the construction of the D3 motorway in the Ševětín – Borek section worth 1.13 billion crowns.
The largest contracting authorities from the government sector after ŘSD were the Railway Infrastructure Administration (CZK 10.1 billion) and the Ministry of Agriculture (CZK 1.1 billion).
By the end of October, 1,075 companies had won the public works contract. The largest volume belonged to Eurovia, which the public administration awarded 149 contracts for 3.5 billion crowns. It will have a share in another 70 tenders worth 4.1 billion crowns thanks to its participation in associations with other companies.
