Charles Bridge is said to surpass the Great Wall of China. Nevertheless, tourists do not spare Prague
Prague’s monuments scored again on the international tourist scene. The well-known travel portal TripAdvisor has awarded Prague’s Charles Bridge the 16th place on its regularly published list of 25 global “miracles” that tourists around the world should definitely not miss. Charles Bridge thus left behind the Chinese Great Wall, the American 9/11 Memorial, and the Sydney Opera House in Australia.
“The bridge offers one of the most beautiful views of the city and the Vltava and is one of the most beautiful sights in Prague,” says the website in the medallion of the monument. In a five-step server evaluation however, Charles Bridge gives the highest mark of “excellent” to just over 60 percent of the 16,000 tourists who have visited the most and want to share their experience with other travelers. Some contributions do not spare the Prague tourist magnet at all.
“Crossing Charles Bridge was incredibly difficult due to the crowds of tourists and it completely ruined my impression of this place,” complains one of the discussants on the TipAdvisor website. “I have heard from many people how beautiful Prague is. I only met with hostile reactions towards tourists, the thinking of the Czechs is like 30 years ago and nice people are rare here, “said another tourist.
“In addition, you always have to make sure how much you get at your currency exchange office. The courses that light up on the boards often do not apply. Most people don’t speak English and don’t feel like trying either. Be careful with restaurants as well, I recommend eating in Chinese and Vietnamese restaurants, where at least they speak English, “another tourist summed up the situation.
