Finance and Prague cleaned up the management of the Congress Center
The General Meeting of the Congress Center Prague (KCP) changed the members of the Supervisory Board and the Board of Directors. For example, the chairman of the board and ex-deputy mayor Václav Novotný (TOP 09) and the representative of the supervisory board Albert Kubišta (TOP 09) were dismissed. The shareholders of KCP are Prague and the state through the Ministry of Finance, the state holds the majority of the shares.
Due to the general meeting, the capital city council met in an extraordinary meeting. Prague was represented at the meeting by Mayor Adriana Krnáčová (ANO). “The need to change the supervisory board and board of directors of KCP was finally decided last week at a joint meeting of shareholders. The congress center lacks a clear strategy for the direction in which the KCP should go in the future,” said Krnáčová.
In addition to Novotný and Kubišta, the former representative of TOP 09 Milan Urban is also among those recalled. Among others, municipal lawyer Michal Jordán was newly elected to the board of directors, and Prague 4 councilor Iva Kotvová (SZ) and Prague representative Eliška Kaplicky Fuchsová (ANO) were elected to the supervisory board.

Novotný disagrees with Krnáčová’s statement. “KCP has had the concept ready for two years. If the mayor had not spent so much time traveling to Dubai or Brussels, she would have known about it and could have at least registered in it,” said Novotný. According to Novotný, the current representative for ANO, Karel Grabein Procházka, also helped create the strategy.
Krnáčová wants an analysis
Mayor Krnáčová already said in January that she wants to have an analysis drawn up on what to do with the KCP and whether to invest up to 800 million in it, which provided by the city last year for reconstruction and elimination of internal debt.
Last spring, the KCP got rid of its roughly two billion debt. In 2000, it was initially in debt of up to four billion due to reconstruction before the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. The repair orderer and guarantor was the state, which then did not provide money to repay the debt. The company thus repaid half of the loan itself. He finally paid another 1.85 billion crowns in the past months, when he entered the property structure of KCP. The state owns 54.4 percent.
