Portugal participates in the first semifinal of the Eurovision Song Contest
AN organization of the event carried out on Tuesday night, in Liverpool, the draw to define the order of performance of the 31 participants in the two semifinals.
The countries belonging to the so-called “Big 5” group (France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom) will not compete in the semifinals, nor will Ukraine, as it was the winner of the last dispute.
This group goes directly to the final.
In addition to Portugal, Croatia, Ireland, Latvia, Malta, Norway, Serbia, Azerbaijan, Czech Republic, Finland, Israel, Moldova, Holland, Sweden and Switzerland participated in the first semifinal.
In the second semifinal, participants Armenia, Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Greece, Iceland, Romania, Albania, Australia, Austria, Georgia, Lithuania, Poland, San Marino and Slovenia.
The final of this competition will take place on the 13th of May.
The song that will represent Portugal at the festival will be chosen in the 57th edition of the Festival da Canção, which will be divided, as usual, into two semifinals (February 25th and March 4th) and a final (March 11th).
In the first semifinal, songs by April Ivy, “Modo Voo”, Churky, “Encruzilhada”, Cláudia Pascoal, “Nasci Maria”, Jacinta, “Sonhos de Liberdade”, Mimicat, “Ai Coração”, Moyah, “Too much sauce “, Neon Soho, “Endless World”, Quim Albergaria/Esse Povo, “Cement Shoes”, SAL, “Viver”, and You Can’t Win Charlie Brown, “Contraste Mudo”.
For the second semifinal were the songs by André Henriques, “Funâmbula”, Bandua, “Bandeiras”, Bárbara Tinoco, “Goodnight”, Dapunksportif, “World Needs Therappy”, Edmundo Inácio, “A festa”, Inês Só, “Fim do Mundo”, Ivandro, “Povo”, Teresinha Landeiro, “While it’s time”, The Happy Mess, “The impossible”, and Voodoo Marmalade, “Tormento”.
Last year, Portugal reached ninth place, a position it had already obtained in two other competitions, with the song “Saudade, Saudade”, composed and performed by Maro, concomitantly live by four other Portuguese singers.
