Badger tormented for hours – Salzburg gate hunter champion Mayr-Melnhof remains calm | VGT
No wonder: LVWG Salzburg has found unlawful violence by Mayr-Melnhof against animal rights activists and is proud to be photographed with a construction dog and dead foxes
He is not interested in the suffering of the badger, the Animal Welfare Act is irrelevant for hunters. He also leads a shot stag in the archaic torchlight procession to the Salzburg Cathedral. However, Mayr-Melnhof should not infer others from himself. The vast majority in Austria disapproves of animal cruelty in any form. No one has any sympathy for Mayr-Melnhof’s violent excesses.

Salzburg – Some people seem to be completely brutalized. According to media reports, a hunter and a soldier in St. Johann im Pongau not only freed a badger that had fallen into a pit, as ordered by the army, but also tortured it with 7 shots for hours. The public and the army are horrified, but not Maximilian Mayr-Melnhof, master huntsman in Salzburg and long-time operator of a hunting gate in which hundreds of wild boar and fallow deer were massacred every year. Mayr-Melnhof also released bred ducks in the bird sanctuary in the Antheringer Au, only to shoot at them in a hideous shooting amusement. But that’s not all, the state administrative court has finally found that Mayr-Melnhof injured an animal rights activist, stole a camera from him by force, lied in court and even falsified evidence. And the same Mayr-Melnhof now claims that he takes the incident with the tormented badger calmly and believes that the Animal Welfare Act is not easy because the perpetrator was a hunter and the victim was a huntable animal, even if this hunter at the scene did not have a hunting license. And certainly no right to torture and torment this poor animal for so long!
VGT Chairman DDr. Martin Balluch knows Mayr-Melnhof from numerous court cases: “I’ve heard the lies he was told in court, according to the verdict. I took one of his victims of violence to the hospital immediately after the assault. I also saw the massacre of wild boar in his hunting pen and how he shot at the abandoned ducks. I also know the photos of Mayr-Melnhof with a dead puma, with a construction dog and dead foxes and with the severed heads of large deer. I also read from him that he happily shoots pigeons with his children and promised his daughter that he would shoot a rabbit for her 10th birthday. In this image of a violent criminal, his statement now also fits.
