Is it expensive to have a car in Portugal? Study confirms the worst that was already guessed
ANDIt was almost certain that acquiring and maintaining a car in Portugal was expensive. Now that it was one of the most expensive countries in the world to do so, only the study by FINN Auto, a car subscription platform, came to verify it.
According to the organism, Portugal is the fourth most expensive country in the world to own a car. Our country is second only to Mexico, Estonia and Latvia.
FINN Auto has created a scale from 0 to 10, which corresponds to the classification of car cost. And it is through the number corresponding to each country that participates in making comparisons.
How do you arrive at the final result? FINN Auto was based on OECD data on average annual earnings in each country, not taking into account the average plan calculated by Eurostat. In this way it is possible to compare countries with different working hours and remuneration. In addition to average income, the cost of purchasing a car, purchasing power and fuel prices were also taken into account.
As already mentioned, Portugal is the fourth most expensive country in the world to own a car. The score given was 8.19, with Mexico, the most expensive country, receiving 9.70. Record that the scale is from 0 to 10.
On the other hand, the cheapest countries are Luxembourg (0.46), USA (0.91) and Australia (1.97).
