Cold persists. Yellow warning extends to all districts in mainland Portugal
They form this set of districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto, Vila Real, Bragança, Aveiro, Viseu, Guarda, Coimbra and Leiria. The Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere justifies this decision with the “persistence of low minimum temperature values”.
Already the districts of Castelo Branco, Santarém, Lisbon, Setúbal, Portalegre, Évora, Beja and Faro are under yellow warning until 6:00 am on Wednesday.
The weather forecast for this Monday forecasts minimum temperatures between six degrees centigrade in Faro and minus six degrees in Guarda. In Vila Real and Bragança, thermometers should not go beyond seven degrees of maximum.
This will be the same coldest day since the start of winter.
Contingency
Lisbon City Council decided to extend the contingency plan for people homeless because of the cold weather.
THE Manuel Castelbranco Municipal Pavilion remains available and warm clothes are also being distributed.
There are also five metro stations that will remain open overnight: Oriente, Santa Apolónia, Rossio, Reboleira, in Amadora, and Senhor Roubado, in Odivelas.
In turn, the Porto Chamber did not activate the contingency plan.
It will only do so if temperatures fall below three degrees on three consecutive days.
