Brighton sign ‘versatile’ Swedish teenager Yacin Ayari as Seagulls strengthen ahead of European bid
The 19-year-old signs a four-and-a-half-year deal with the Seagulls, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2027.
Midfielder Ayari, who scored four goals in 24 league games for AIK last season, made his senior Sweden debut in a 2-0 win over Finland earlier this month.
“Yasin is a versatile and technical midfielder, who is good on the ball and can play across midfield,” said Brighton technical director David Weir.
“He has had an impressive spell in Sweden with AIK, and we are delighted to have completed his transfer and to welcome him to the club.
“He will need time to settle here and acclimatise to the Premier League, but we are really looking forward to working with him.”
Brighton are enjoying a fantastic season, with the team currently sixth in the Premier League table.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side are eight points off the top four and five points behind fifth-placed Tottenham.
The Seagulls will look to strengthen their bid for European qualification when they take on relegation-threatened Bournemouth on Saturday.
