The PSP carries out several temporary operations to combat violence in nightlife areas in the city of Lisbon – Jornal A Nação
The Lisbon PSP Metropolitan Command, in the early hours of January 28, carried out several operations to combat violence in nightlife areas in the Lisbon area.
In order to prevent and combat violence near nightlife establishments, the PSP launched several operations to combat this phenomenon in the areas with the highest concentration of this type of establishment.
In this operation, carried out in the Alcântara area, an entertainment establishment was targeted, where, last summer, there were some disturbances using firearms.
It should be noted that, following these occurrences, through the PSP’s criminal investigation branch, several procedural actions were triggered already during the 27th of January to capture evidence in criminal proceedings associated with violence and criminality related to the entertainment areas nightlife in the region of Lisbon.
Following these actions, a 48-year-old suspect was arrested and seized: 24 lead cartridges, 12 gauge; 9 expanding 12 gauge shells; 15 ammunition caliber .32 HR; and 1 reproduction of a 6 mm caliber firearm
Other evidence of interest for investigation was also collected and 4 suspects were constituted as defendants for robberies and offenses to physical integrity in a nightlife environment.
At the establishment, 1 non-domicile Search Warrant was carried out, in an operation that involved, in close collaboration, the Criminal Investigation Division, the 4th Police Division, a police unit with territorial competence in that location, supported by the Traffic Division, Private Security Nucleus, various valences of the Special Police Unit of the PSP and also by the Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF), Tax Authority (AT), ASAE and Social Security.
During the searches, for the safety of all those involved and in strict compliance with the legal regulations in force, people inside the establishment were searched.
As a result of these steps, around 700 people were identified and searched and the following items were seized inside the establishment by the criminal investigation teams: several facades, located on the floor, inside the establishment and small amounts of narcotics, namely hashish and ecstasy.
In addition, two administrative offense notices were raised by the AT for failure to issue an invoice, 4 administrative offense notices for infractions such as lack of the doorman’s uniform, lack of metal detector, lack of access control/accounting of people inside , 1 report for usurpation of copyright and 3 sound equipment seized.
“These operations, in addition to collecting evidence, aim above all to prevent and combat phenomena of violence in the context of nightlife and to encourage a feeling of security among those who attend these establishments to have fun”, highlights the PSP.
