San Marino. Councilors Mancini and Simoncini: “We will not participate in the PS assembly”
“With this note, which we ask you to read at the opening of the meeting of members convened for Sunday 29 January 2023, we inform you that we, the undersigned Councilors and members of the Socialist Party, have decided not to participate in the meeting”.
Thus begins the communication forwarded by the Directors Alessandro Mancini and Giacomo Simoncini to the president of the Socialist Party Antonio Lazzaro Volpinari.
“We reached this decision by analyzing in depth the draft of the document that was sent to us – but above all we believe that on some strictly political passages, such as relations with the Noi per la Repubblica list of which we are institutional representatives – there has never been willingness to address the issue indeed, as repeatedly requested by the undersigned – the Party leadership, has never undertaken to develop a comparison with the list both on current events and on perspective, as well as certain public positions taken by the Party do not have never been shared or even anticipated to us councilors by choosing, rather, the path of sole and exclusive criticism. Criticism of council representatives, criticism of the NPR list and criticism of the government majority. Positions, these, with respect to which, despite not being shared by us, we never wanted to reply – in spite of the much criticized self-referentiality! Therefore, our decision not to participate in the assembly of members was born out of a choice of consistency and method. Some, within the Party, have peremptorily chosen the path of non-confrontation, or rather of ‘it’s done like this and that’s it’. From the draft of the political document, large gaps and conflicting passages emerge, with an evident desire not to deal clearly with topics of a strong political nature. Therefore, in wishing you a good job, we remain available for any necessary clarification, and we also anticipate that it is not in our interest to advance any type of candidacy in the party bodies that the assembly is called to deliberate”.
