Floating wind farm produced 78GWh of electricity
Do you remember WindFloat Atlantic, the first floating wind farm in Continental Europe located in Portugal? This wind farm has been operating for some years now and provides clean energy to Portugal’s electricity grid.
With a total installed capacity of 25 MW, this floating wind farm in Portugal managed to produce 78GWh of energy in 2022.
Wind farm has a total installed capacity of 25 MW
WindFloat Atlantic is able to access energy resources in very vast maritime areas, responding to important social challenges, such as the transition to clean energy, energy security and climate change. This floating farm has a total installed capacity of 25 MW and was the first semi-submersible floating wind farm in the world.
The equipment has the capacity to generate enough energy to supply the equivalent of 60,000 users per year, which represents a saving of almost 1.1 million tons of CO2.
According to the most recent data, in 2022energy production consumed 78GWh, 5% more than in 2021.
According to those responsible for the project, the data show Portugal's offshore wind potential, which is reflected in the annual availability of the wind farm, which is between 93-94 percent, as well as showing the success of WindFloat Atlantic's innovative technology, no offshore sector being a reference.
