Witseed. Netflix for companies that want to revolutionize or upskilling in Portugal
National employers who wish to provide training to their employees will, from now on, have a much easier life. After winning the top award for innovation in the Montepio Acredita Portugal Programme, the Brazilian company Witseed has packed her bags for Portugal and with her brings the proposal of a platform that makes corporate professional training more accessible.

Entitled “Netflix for companies”, the startup already has proven itself in the sister country, where it was born in 2017. The German giant Siemens, the North American FedEx and the Italian Fiat are among the more than 30 companies that make up the portfolio of customers of Witseed and which, in 2022, allowed it to grow by 60%, reaching revenues of around 600 thousand euros.
The fact is that both the Witseed interface and the user experience are similar to the popular streaming platform – the big difference is really in the content. There are more than a hundred educational documentaries, taught in Portuguese and English, on topics ranging from data security, people management and services to technology and leadership.
The decision on the judgments to be dealt with belongs to an education council, made up of companies handpicked after a market analysis. As for the protagonists, these “short films” are highly regarded executives in the market who deal daily with the challenges associated with business life.
“These are people who, through their experience, can help others to improve their performance and who, together with our production team, provide high-quality content that makes the learning experience more immersive”, explains Miguel Fernandes, chief technology officer (CTO) of Witseed, to Dinheiro Vivo.

And because the challenges of a Brazilian executive are usually the same as a Portuguese one, a startup focused on improved skills will make its business plans available across Portuguese lands, which remained for a minimum subscription period of 36 months, about two years and quite. This requirement is justified by the fact that “a learning habit takes some time to take root in the culture of an organization”.
To make the process easier, Witseed offers an onboarding process, which follows the launch of the solution. With regard to monitoring the progress of employees, entities can do so through the platform, and can also count on periodic meetings to share performance reports.
The real advantage of this detailed method, the person in charge, involves reducing costs for companies, when thinking about traditional face-to-face training, since “it is not necessary to mobilize teams to a location or dedicate four to eight hours to a single training”. On the professional’s side, he continues, “he acquires some prominence in the learning process, given that he will not attend a mandatory course, but videos personalized to his needs”.
Focused on the two Portuguese-speaking markets – but with the rest of Europe in its sights – Witseed wants to double its growth in 2023, expand its customer base and grow its current team of 26 people. To this end, it has already opened a branch in Portugal, for which it intends to recruit for sales and production. One of the most ambitious goals is also to create an ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) academy with five to ten companies in Portugal, which will be responsible for defining as the most important learners in this area.
With the exposure resulting from the now Unlimit and Banco Montepio competition, a startup is confident that it will be able to connect more easily with the leaders of each industry and expand its solution to the national market.
