Via Graça: a bastion of Portuguese flavors with a privileged view over Lisbon
34 years have passed since they opened their doors and, since then, Vila Graça has welcomed several chefs, different outfits and even the fine dining, 9B. However, there is something that does not change in this space that continues to offer one of the most distinctive views over Lisbon. From the large windows, we can see Lisbon’s roofs, the bridge, the Tagus and Cristo Rei.
If at lunch the sun illuminates everything, at dinner it is the lights of Lisbon that serve as the backdrop. Either way, the view is always an invitation to return, as is the menu.
Via Graça is a tribute to our minister, Portuguese, offering a menu with more character and personality than we are used to.
I start the meal with the traditional cover chargethat brings us the Portuguese flavors through the bread made in the restaurant, the olive oil with a balanced acidity, the Alentejo chorizo and crab pasta.
Then I surrendered to the entrance of Tenderloin Tartare with marrow and fries (€18). A dish that dazzles by the perfect union of flavors.
Between the Bacalhau à Brás (€28), which seems to be the ex-libris of space, or lobster rice (€45), the decision became difficult. I decided on rice and there was no regret. It’s delicious and inevitable that you rape the dish (it’s not very elegant, but you don’t want to waste it).
And because a good meal only ends with dessert, I choose to try two of the several that stand out in the menu. the unrivaled cream milk (7€) and Notice (€7) which is a house sweet that does not disappoint.
With Lisbon at its feet, this traditional restaurant remains very much alive after 30 years of service and, of course, it could only be for the best reasons, the same ones that have been keeping so many customers loyal and making this a space to revisit for the next 30.
