European Youth Winter Olympic Festival, Mattia Beccari on the track tomorrow to best represent San Marino
The snow forces a change of plans: the bearer of San Marino, Mattia Beccari, on track on Tuesday in the special slalom at the European Youth Winter Olympic Festival.
It has officially opened 16th European Youth Winter Olympic Festival with the opening ceremony in Piazza Unità d’Italia in Trieste.
The 47 delegations paraded in an icy atmosphere, warmed up by the play of lights which involved the entire public.
The standard-bearer of the Republic of San Marino, Mattia Beccariparaded in 36th place, together with head of mission William Zanna and the technician Riccardo Stacchini.
The ceremony was also attended by the president of the San Marino National Olympic Committee, Gian Primo Giardi; The Secretary of State for Sport, Teodoro Lonferniniand the general secretary of the San Marino National Olympic Committee, Eros Bologna.
The last act of the ceremony is the lighting of the tripod by Jonathan Milan, gold medal winner at Tokyo 2020 in the team pursuit.
The San Marino Beccari has already done the first training sessions on the slopes of Tarvisio. The floods in the area have led to a change of plans: the Titan athlete will be in the race tomorrow, Tuesday 24 Januaryinstead of wednesday, in the special slalom at 9.30. Confirmed for Friday the test in the giant slalom at the Ski Area Tarvisio.
