Beja included in the options for the new Lisbon airport. Location Revealed in October | Radio Voice of the Plain – 104.5FM
Rosário Partidário, coordinator of this commission, revealed, in an interview with “Público”, that “the Beja solution, for now, is at stake”.
In addition to the five hypotheses suggested by the Government – Portela + Montijo; Portela + Alcochete; Montijo, Alcochete and Santarém – the “commission has carte blanche to evaluate other locations or eliminate some of those that are on the table”.
The spokesman for the Beja Merece + movement, Florival Baiôa, considers “the inclusion of Beja in the list of possible locations for the location of the new Lisbon airport to be good news, but does not believe that it could be the chosen solution”, says the ” Diary of Alentejo”.
David Simão also does not accept the hypothesis that Beja “is an alternative to Lisbon”, but rather that “it is viable”, provided that it has “a business plan of its own” and, based on the meetings of the Advisory Board, in which it has participated on behalf of of the Association of Entrepreneurs of Baixo Alentejo and Litoral (NERBE/AEBAL), praises the “new attitude” of ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal.
The coordinator of the independent commission, Rosário Partidário, assured, also to “Público”, that “they have to be explored options that can be transitory”. In conclusion: “by April the options to be studied will be chosen and in June the critical decision factors will be decided and a report will be produced and will be put up for public consultation, waiting for the delivery of a preliminary report by the end of October”.
