Aggression | Bus 93 | Via Scuderlando
Five against one at the bus stop. Last Saturday, January 21, a 26-year-old student was attacked by five young men in Via Scuderlando, in Verona. An explosion of unjustified violence, resulting from a harmless and accidental gesture that happened on the ATV line 93 bus.
It was 9.15 pm on Saturday night when the 26-year-old got on the bus to go home to Borgo Roma. On the vehicle was a group of boys, some of whom were more or less his age while others were younger and probably minors. The student was standing and like all non-seated passengers he swayed due to the movement of the vehicle. And swinging, the young man involuntarily brushed against one of the guys in the group. The latter allegedly complained to the 26-year-old, telling him not to rub against his shoulders. The student, however, was not rubbing, but was moving because of the bus.
Everything seemed over, but when the 26-year-old was getting off the bus he was threatened and insulted by one of the group. Faced with the aggressive words received, the student tried to appease spirits and it was at that moment that the violence began. The group snapped at him pushing him off the public transport. The attack then continued near the bus stop, with the 26-year-old who was able to defend himself and with the five looking near a dumpster for objects to use as weapons. The victim suffered injuries to his arms and legs and was able to hold on to the charge of the five attackers until a taxi driver arrived to help him. It is not known how long that beating would have lasted and how it would have ended if the taxi driver had not arrived and then called 112 and the ambulance. The attackers all escaped and the victim was eventually treated in the emergency room.
Recalling the incident, the 26-year-old was shocked by the disrespectful and violent behavior of the youths on the bus. Young people who according to his description would all be of African origin. From their violence he was able to defend himself, but it would have ended very badly if the group had taken it out on someone weaker.
