Warner Brown is going to Slovenia with NS Mura | Sports
FORMER ST Andrew Technical High School and Tivoli Gardens player Warner Brown will get the chance to spread his wings in Europe as he signs a contract with Slovenian club NS Mura.
Brown was unveiled on Monday and signed a two-year deal with the club until June 2025. Brown was previously with Major League Soccer Next Pro, Rochester NY, on loan from Tivoli Gardens, where he spent two seasons under his STATHS head coach Philip Williams .
Club director Denis Rajbar described the signing as long-term and believes that he will fight for a place in the first team with his technical skills and adaptation to the new environment. Rajbar said that he will immediately be loaned to a second division club to gain the necessary experience.
“Warner moved to Murska Sobota as an investment for the future. He will cultivate his knowledge in the second Slovenian football league, where we will follow his development in detail. If he develops the way we want, he will later compete for a place in the Mura team,” Rajbar told the club’s website.
A PROMISING CHAPTER
Brown said he’s excited about this promising chapter in his young career and hopes to use the league as a springboard to success in a similar fashion to Nationals shortstop Shamar Nicholson and others.
“I am very happy to have joined Mura, I am looking forward to new challenges. Even before I arrived, I inquired about some things about the club, I know that Mura was a champion, that they have great fans,” Brown told the club’s website.
“I am ready to fight for my chance, I want to prove myself and show what I know. I hope that I will leave such a mark as some Jamaican footballers have already left in the Slovenian league.”
Nicholson began his European career in Slovenia with NK Domžale, and his performances were the starting point for successive moves to the Belgian first team Charleroi and the Russian club Spartak Moscow.
