Rimini takes office like bishop Nicolò Anselmi: “I carry Genoa in my heart”
The new bishop of Rimini has taken office Nicolo Anselmi, 111th pastor of the diocese, who succeeds Francesco Lambiasi. The settlement took place during a mass held in the city’s cathedral basilica. The celebration was preceded by a greeting to the city in Piazza Cavour where the new bishop thanked those present, around 200, who had come despite the rain. Also at the ceremony were the bishop of Genoa Marco Tasca, who was moved during his speech, and the deputy mayor Pietro Piciocchi.
Anselmi said, on the sidelines of the greeting in the square, that he received a “beautiful welcome in Rimini, beyond my expectations. I am deeply thankful because I felt really well received. This helped me in my separation from my city”. A city to which he remains very attached. “I grew up in Genoa, I carry with me above all, I have to tell the truth, the affections, the people I met in Genoa, who loved me like carrying my heart”.
“We know that you deeply love the sea and that you prefer to get around by scooter or bike: Rimini will be able to offer you these same things”, Rimini mayor Jamil Sadegholvaad told him, giving him a racing bicycle. “At the base of the lights (and shadows) with which we are very often told lies an enormous humanity, which then sublimates into a concrete culture of hospitality”, added the mayor of Rimini.
