Car reappears in Munich
In mid-November, a citizen parked his white Seat Leon in a parking garage in Munich. Now it’s an unexpected spot reappeared.
Munich – The mystery is finally solved: Yes, The missing Seat Leon by Christian Wilken has appeared! Under he is not – as originally thought – at the main station, but at the Ostbahnhof. The non-local owner had simply made a mistake in the station. And is now overjoyed that his car is back.
As a reminder: Christian Wilken had his white seat in a parking garage in mid-November Munich parked in order to continue his journey from here by train. Far too late, he parked his car in a hurry and sprinted to the train station. On the way back, he realizes that he no longer remembers where he had parked.
The month-long search begins – until, in desperation, he turns to our newspaper this week. And then the search really got going.
Search for a seat in Munich: A man brought the decisive clue
Because the willingness to help from the people of Munich was great: We received various tips from readers as to where the car could be parked. The solution finally came from Radio Gong listener Sebastian. He works at Ostbahnhof and parks there every day in the multi-storey car park on Pariser Strasse. When he heard about the wild search for the missing car, he immediately rang: “Because it’s the only car I noticed in this parking garage. It sat there for two to three months,” he told Radio Gong.
Christian Wilken himself can’t quite believe that his car is back. “I have to let that sink in first,” he told our editors. “I have to get in the car, drive for a while – and realize what has happened!” And he is overwhelmed by the willingness to help from the people of Munich: “I am so grateful to all of you,” emphasized the Hessian on Wednesday. The fact that he believed he had parked at the main station – that was simply a mistake.
The car has been in the multi-storey car park for months: “I’ll probably have to pay a lot now”
After the initial joy, however, the inevitable thought came straight away: What costs will he have to face now? “I’ll probably have to pay a lot now,” he predicts.
An employee of the multi-storey car park at the Ostbahnhof said: “The matter is up to the management, they make the decision on how we proceed and what parking costs the gentleman has to pay.” The fact is: the fee for two hours alone is five euros .
Christian Wilken will probably pick up his car on Thursday during the day. Thanks to a resourceful Munich resident, he now knows where to go.
