Olivier Guégan “We were enough” after the defeat against Caen (2-1)
Cold snap on FC Sochaux Montbéliard! This is a defeat that will hurt the heads of all supporters of FCSM beaten 2 to 1 by Caen this Friday evening in Bonal’s fridge, in the late match of the 19th day of Ligue 2. A huge disappointment for the Yellow et Bleu and the 8,000 spectators present both the excellent start to the match for the Sochaux and the goal of Moussa Doumbia (8th minute) rather augured a victory under control. Alas, the Yellow and Blue then completely foiled and the Normans took the opportunity to come back and win on the wire. Sochaux is frankly not far from malpractice!
“You have to play with your brain, your guts and your heart” Olivier Guégan
How to lose a losing match? Ask the Sochaliens, they have the recipe: you just have to score very quickly, play to perfection, miss the knockout goal several times, and suddenly stop playing. For Olivier Guégan, this defeat is simply unacceptable “I feel annoyance, anger, incomprehension. We can only blame ourselves. We have to show other values, other virtues when we aim for things. You have to play with your brain, your heart and your guts before you think it’s going to come on its own. The match on gave it. We do what it takes to lead 1-0, after we foiled, we got out of the game and Caen got what they wanted, on merit. We didn’t do the right thing we didn’t do the job tonight. We held out our cheeks to get spanked and tonight we were enough. It’s up to us to quickly remobilize, to quickly bounce back, not to hide. This is also where we will see if we have personality and character.”
Unhappy Prévot, Sissoko with absent subscribers
If Sochaux was punished this Friday evening, it owes it largely to the more than disappointing match of Ibrahim Sissoko. The Sochaux top scorer went completely through his game, notably missing a 2-0 ball in his strings. Replaced by Aldo Kalulu in the second half (who thought he scored the winning goal with a beautiful uncrossed header but was finally refused for a ball visibly out of bounds on Valentin Henry’s cross), the Malian striker must score the not since the recovery. Same observation for Franck Kanouté, also replaced, whose risky game too often puts the team in danger. Tony Mauricio, author of a brilliant decisive pass for the goal of Doumbia, will blame himself for having spoiled a 3 against 1 just before the break. Finally, the unfortunate Maxence Prévot, impeccable this season in his cages, hardly seen after his recovery error (but Rassoul Ndiaye’s back pass is surely not necessary either!) which costs the but of defeat at the last minute.
A mandatory reaction
The FCSM is still missing a great opportunity to carry out a great operation in the standings. He therefore does not finish the first leg in 2nd place. Despite this 3rd defeat in a row, he is 4th halfway through, and still remains placed for the rise in Ligue 1. But one thing is certain, a lot of questioning is needed if he does not want to become disenchanted at the end of the season.
