“They call 118 because a man, already seriously ill, has an illness at home, but the ambulance finds the road walled up and gets blocked. Operators are forced to get off the vehicle and walk to the patient’s home. They reach it thanks to the directions of the locals and family members, even if it is 6 in the morning and the streets are almost deserted. When they arrive, after seemingly endless minutes, they can’t help but note the death of the 67-year-old. The episode dates back to Tuesday 10 January last, between via Ottavio Morisani And Moiariello ascentin Capodimonte”.
The councilors of the III Municipality report the incident, Valeria Vespa And Carlo Restaino: “What happened is a very serious thing – they tell Fanpage.it – For months, residents of the area have reported that with the closure of via Morisani, many homes have become unreachable by ambulances and this situation could continue in the future”.
Via Morisani walled up a month ago
Via Morisani, a parallel of the Moiariello, has been closed for almost 3 years due to the risk of collapse. The road has been cordoned off for all this time and the works have stopped, until last December, when the Municipality has walled up via Morisani to allow the construction site to start. “The works have started – explain Vespa and Restaino – but the consequence is that the road has become inaccessible to vehicles that take it from below, that is, from the Rione Sanità area. It can only be reached from above, i.e. from Capodimonte. This is also creating problems for the ambulances arriving from the San Gennaro hospital, which are forced to stop in front of the wall in via Morisani. The Municipality has published the closure of via Ottavio Morisani on the praetorian bulletin board, but we wonder if it has also communicated it to the ASL Napoli 1, given that the ambulances continue to pass through there”.
The road could remain closed even after the works
The problem, the two councilors add, is that “the road could remain closed even after the works are finished. In addition to an unsafe wall to be fixed, in fact, there is also an unsafe private building that overlooks the public road, belonging to a poor person. If the Municipality does not intervene to secure the structure, via Morisani risks not being able to reopen.
