Vote of confidence in Athens, new flights and new investments
“Athens is now connected to the Athenian Riviera and the region of Attica. Half of the country’s GDP is located here, and the infrastructure and potential are huge. It can be seen in the results and in the new investments” said the Minister of Tourism Vassilis Kikilias in an interview he gave to Realfm 97.8 and to Nikos Hatzinikolaou and Antonis Dellatola.
“Delta resumes flights from the US on March 11th and from Toronto and Montreal on March 28th and 31st. So far 56 flights per week have been declared in their full deployment from North America. Of course, more are expected to be announced. It is a huge gift for Athens and Attica,” he added. The lengthening achieved this year can also be seen from the April and October performances – which are all-time records – while, as he said, the November results are estimated to have been equally impressive.
“The aim is to reduce the wristband and all inclusive and to proceed with an upgrade” he noted.
“We have new five-star hotels in Kaningos Square, Mitropoleos, Voula, Glyfada, Sounio. The neighborhoods around Omonia and Karaiskaki Square, which were very degraded, are being upgraded, with projects that give another perspective to the capital,” said Mr. Kikilias, emphasizing that at the same time the Ministry of Tourism is proceeding with infrastructure projects and developing with resources from the National Recovery Fund.
“The government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis, almost – if you want education or digitization – invests in infrastructure projects. Infrastructure projects are the game changers for the country for years to come. The big investments continue, that’s why the orders we give to the services are that we don’t stop. Why did they ask me, “may the elections affect our tourism product”? And I explained that even in March-April, the elections will be held again, the tourists we have in Athens” he said characteristically.
