Toulouse. The Illustrafemmes gallery puts female artists in the spotlight
Next March, 24 female artists will be honored at the Illustrafemmes gallery. The opportunity for these women to impose themselves in the art world, which is mainly dominated by men.
The Illustrafemmes gallery is organizing an exceptional exhibition on March 8, on the occasion of World Women’s Rights Day. 24 Toulouse, regional and international artists make the trip to exhibit 40 illustrations, representing the Ville Rose, through their eyes, by female artists. Among others, Amélie Bimont, Bérénice Gohel and Muge Qi will be present.
“Each artist expressed their feelings and memories through their works, on the theme of our city. Using colors and shapes, but also different artistic styles, such as watercolor or digital art, these women were able to bring their memories to life, bringing a new perspective to Ville Rose”, explains Ms. Feylizadeh, artistic director of the gallery.
A powerful message behind the exhibition
“This exhibition will give visibility to female artists. The art world is dominated by men. In fact, few women manage to exhibit their works. In our gallery we want to highlight them all the time. year, but even more during this event”, adds the director. The major of the exhibition is to promote women in the world of art. 60% of them do not exhibit their works in Toulouse, through inequality, according to the director. “In this perspective, the day of women’s rights was obvious for the organizer of the event”, finds Ms. Feylizadeh.
