TOURISM
Großglockner Hochalpenstrassen AG (GROHAG) is now planning a new museum about the life and work of the late ORF and mountaineering legend Sepp Forcher. The management will also secure exhibits from Forcher’s estate, which are to be auctioned off at Dorotheum.
People were surprised when they heard about the auction of part of Forcher’s estate from the ORF program “Salzburg heute”, says GROHAG boss Johannes Hörl.
Negotiations with the heir and godson
In the last few days, negotiations have been concluded with the Dorotheum, which was commissioned to organize the auction, and with the heir and godson Forchers. As a first step, some very personal things such as calendars or letters from high-ranking politicians were removed from the list for the planned auction.
According to the GROHAG manager, other items will probably be auctioned for the exhibition. In any case, you don’t want the estate of the TV star and a selected innkeeper to be scattered to the four winds.
Sepp Forcher was very attached to the Grossglockner
As is well known, Sepp Forcher was also very connected to the Großglockner, its neighboring peaks, the road of the same name and the construction of the power plant in the nearby Kaprun valley.
