F-16 sales comment to Turkey, which will be on the agenda from the USA: An important partner in the world
Spokesperson of the US Department of Defense Brigadier General Patrick Ryder answered questions about the decision regarding the F-16 sales to Turkey at the daily press conference.
DECISION BEFORE CONGRESS
Brigadier General Patrick Ryder expressed that he wishes to go to Congress for a preliminary review of this resolution and to decide before Congress for consideration as the two countries answer important questions in military thinking.
‘TURKEY IS ALWAYS AN IMPORTANT PARTNER’
Ryder said, “As the bilateral relationship between Turkey and the United States is coming to an end, he has always said that Turkey is an important partner and competitor.”
THE QUESTION OF TURKEY AND GREECE
Upon the question of the US’s approval of the sale of F-16s to Turkey and not publishing the plan to sell F-35 planes to Greece, Ryder explained that these issues are independent of each other and the relationship of the US with both countries.
‘THIS CONGRESS IS SOMETHING TO DECIDE’
Responding to the question of whether the Pentagon has advised Congress on this issue, where some members of the Congress objected to the sale of F-16s to Turkey, and reminding Ryder, ‘This is something that will decide the Congress. I’m not telling them what to do here. Like repeated executions, Turkey and the United States share an obligation, and not only is Turkey’s region an important partner in the world.”
