An AW139 helicopter (stock image) belonging to the Armed Forces of Malta was responsible for the questionable route
The helicopter said to have created the image is an AW139, an AFM aircraft which, according to the manufacturer’s website, is a ‘multi-mission adaptable helicopter’ and boasts ‘superior performance’.
Many assumed the ballsy stunt was a deliberate effort, as flight number AS1429 included a series of intentional looks.
However, the AFM told the Times of Malta that the flight model, shared by flightradar24, was ‘printed out of context’.
A spokesman said: ‘The flight tracking shown was segmented as the helicopter was flying at low altitude and did not show the complete flight path.’
