the unions expect a massive mobilization in the Vaucluse
What extent will the mobilization against the pension reform take in Vaucluse? As the date for national mobilization approaches, the unions are mobilizing their bases. FO, CGT, FSU, Solidaires, UNSA, CFTC, CGC and CFDT expect a massive mobilization this Thursday, January 19 from 10:30 a.m. Jean Jaurès class.
A tense social climate
“It pushes to block”loose a member of the intersyndicale in a press conference. “It’s a powder keg. It’s the subject everyone is talking about in companies.” To measure the mobilization on Thursday, the unions are relying on the social climate that goes back to them in their various discussions but also on more tangible data: the number of calls in the various local unions to ask for the time and place of start of Thursday’s demonstration.
“They want to fight because they think it’s unfair. This reform is the straw that broke the camel’s back in a context where purchasing power is falling”, explains Fred Laurent the general secretary of the CGT in the Vaucluse.
However, doubt remains about mobilizing young people. “Either they don’t know the details of the reform or they don’t feel concerned because we’ve put it in their heads that they won’t have a pension. There is a real challenge in raising awareness among young people on this subject. “observes Jean-Luc Bonnal, who represents the Force Ouvrière union in the department.
More broadly, the unions expect and hope for a massive mobilization on Thursday to launch a renewable movement. It is already planned that they will meet the day after the event to decide consequences to be given to the movement.
