FC Bayern: Also no goalkeeper obligation after a new failure
A week before the start of the competitive game, only Sven Ulreich and the two young goalkeepers Johannes Schenk and Tom Ritzy Hülsmann are still in the squad. Head coach Julian Nagelsmann is clearly too thin, as the Landsberger explained at the last press conference in Qatar. Given the inexperience of the two youngsters behind Ulreich FC Bayern have “the duty to get a goalkeeper”, said the 35-year-old. Also Joshua Kimmich made a similar statement.
Those responsible have been looking for more than a month – since Manuel Neuer’s skiing accident – for a reliable goalkeeper, but so far the search has been unsuccessful. Negotiations are apparently being made with Borussia Mönchengladbach about the transfer fee for Yann Sommer, but the transfer could still fail. Kevin Trapp, who apparently also belongs to the group of candidates, gave the record champion a recent basket.
FC Bayern looking for a goalkeeper: Journalist suggests Portuguese national goalkeeper
FC Bayern’s goalkeeper problem is also an issue internationally. On Thursday, Portuguese-Brazilian sports journalist Bruno Andrade entered a new name into the draw. The transfer expert, who works for the Brazilian portal UOL Esporte as well as for the Portuguese broadcasters TVI and CNN Portugal, calls himself Diogo Costa as a possible Bayern keeper.
“Diogo Costa is a guarantee for Bayern, Manchester United or any other giant looking for a new goalkeeper,” wrote the journalist. 23-year-old Costa was born in the Swiss municipality of Rothrist but grew up in Portugal and has been trained at FC Porto since 2010. The eleven time national player stand by that too World Cup in Qatar in all five games of the Portuguese between the posts.
FC Bayern: exit clause for Portugal national keeper Diogo Costa probably too high
Considering his changes and his potential, a commitment letter for FC Bayern would make sense. However, the high exit clause of the 89-time Porto keeper is probably an exclusion criterion for the Munich team, which is a whopping 75 million euros. “Just remember to divide the value by 10 to 15 years of (probable) success,” Andrade tweeted about the goalkeeper’s transfer.
In view of the previous record sums, it is questionable whether FC Bayern would make such an expensive bet in the future. The regular keeper Dragões is also tied to Porto until 2027, so the release clause might be the only way to get him. Bayern will probably look elsewhere, but those responsible shouldn’t take much time. The transfer window closes on January 31st. (ajr)
