WYD 2023: organization of the Lisbon event was in the Vatican
Portuguese delegation met with the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life and with the Secretariat of State of the Holy See. D. Américo Aguiar, president of the Foundation WYD Lisbon 2023, was in a private audience with Pope Francis.

The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of World Youth Day (WYD) 2023 was in Rome last week, at a time when the countdown of the last 200 days until the start of the event in Lisbon, which will take place from 1 to August 6th.
In a warm welcome led by D. Américo Aguiar, president of the JMJ Lisbon 2023 Foundation, the Executive Secretary, Duarte Ricciardi, and representatives of the Logistics, Pastoral, Finance, Dialogue and Proximity, Path 23, Communication, Welcoming and Volunteers, await in the Vatican, refers to the official website of the event.
The meetings took place with the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life and with the Secretariat of State of the Holy See, giving “continuity to the work that has been developed with the Vatican, in the different dimensions, for the events of the Day”.
In this sense, the Portuguese woman was with “those responsible for organizing the Pope’s trips, for security and for the liturgy”.
During these days they were also received by the Portuguese ambassador to the Holy See, Domingos Fezas Vital.
The president of the WYD Lisbon 2023 Foundation and auxiliary bishop of Lisbon, D. Américo Aguiar, was received in audience by Pope Francis, “to bring the Holy Father into line with what has been the preparation work for WYD, namely with regard to the inscriptions of pilgrims and recruiting host families and volunteers”, says the website of WYD Lisbon 2023.
On the occasion, “the Holy Father gave thanks for the young pilgrims from all over the world who have already registered, renewing the invitation to participate to all”.
