“The third metro line in Toulouse is no longer a subject”, for Sébastien Vincini
After the scheduled resignation of Georges Méric at the head of the Haute-Garonne departmental council at the end of November, Sébastien Vincini donned the costume. Aged 44, the national secretary of the Socialist Party wants to quickly soak up his paw the function. Consequently, that implies a change, on the form, of the positions and the speeches between the old and the new president of the community. With a first point of divergence: the future line C of the metro in Toulouse.
“The third metro line in Toulouse is no longer a subject. In any case, it is no longer a political subject, but it can still be a technical or even accounting subject. The municipal elections have decided twice on the question so it is no longer a debate. We need it and quickly, ”said Sébastien Vincini in particular, on the occasion of his first wishes to the press, Thursday January 12.
In fact, his predecessor, on the merits, was not against since he involved the community in its financing, on a total budget revised upwards around 3.5 billion euros. Nevertheless, in his remarks, Georges Méric could sometimes be offensive on this subject.
Move on the RER without waiting for the AFNT
For his successor, the debate must now shift to the rest. ” The subject is what we will do after this third metro line (…) The decisions we have taken will not reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but rather will contain their increase “, pleads Sébastien Vincini. The new president of the departmental council of Haute-Garonne thus puts on the RER and effective rates on this point.
“I was very attentive to what the President of the Republic said on the subject. Now we wait for the agenda and the commentary we proceed. It’s not impatience, but almost, “said the majority leader in the Department.
According to some protagonists, the birth of a real Toulouse RER would be linked to the realization of the railway developments in the north of Toulouse (AFNT) due to the saturation of the existing network. If this work is scheduled in phase 1 of the future LGV between Toulouse and Bordeaux in the medium term, Sébastien Vincini believes that there is better to do in the short term.
“I don’t think that the AFNT concerns the entire rail network and all directions (of a potential RER, editor’s note). I recently met Carole Delga to discuss the issue and this meeting resulted in future discussions between our various technical teams. I also have to meet Jean-Luc Moudenc and I also hope that this interview will lead to joint work between our services concerning a Toulouse RER”, explains the political manager.
Free up funds for mobility
By taking the reins quite early in this mandate, whose last departmental elections were held in 2021, Sébastien Vincini wishes “ create the conditions to make the community available on these issues of daily mobility “. In this position, the elected official clearly refers to the financial leeway.
Nevertheless, the socialist considers it necessary” a big bang of mobility » in Toulouse, in place on the table of projects and ideas little or not yet studied, while imagining new financial resources. Without committing too much, the new president of the departmental council of Haute-Garonne intends to weigh all his weight on this sensitive issue, for which the skills of his community are limited.
