Avignon: Robert Greiner, the murderer of Evelyne Boucher, is dead

Monday, January 9, 2023, Robert Greiger, 70, died in custody. It was incarcerated since 2008 at the penitentiary center of Salon de Provence. This professional firefighter from Avignon had been sentenced to life for the murder and rape of Evelyne Boucher, a 16-year-old high school student.
First cold case elucidated thanks to science
The facts took place 35 years ago. In December 1987, the body of a teenager was found on a vacant lot in the commune of Angles. The young woman had been beaten, raped and shot.
It took 19 years old to investigators for non-suspicious identifier. In 2003, following a fight in the parking lot of the Pont du Gard, Robert Greiner had to submit to biological samples. Three years later, he was arrested, DNA son corresponding to that found on the victim’s body.
It’s the first cold case which had been elucidated by science.
Sentenced in 2008 to life imprisonment over there Nîmes Assize Courtthe sentence had been sanctioned by the Rhône Court of Assizes one year later.
Despite these judgments and the DNA evidence, Robert Greiger has always denied the facts.
