Aston Villa Schnaps Salzburg Colombia talent Jhon Duran gone
Shortly before Christmas, FC Red Bull Salzburg is said to have made an offer for Jhon Duran, according to a report in the Portuguese sports newspaper “Record” (LAOLA1 reported >>>).
In the competition for the 19-year-old striker, however, the “bulls” have now lost out. The Colombia international will soon join Aston Villa in the Premier League. The “Villans” confirm in a statement that an agreement has been reached with Duran’s regular club, the MLS club Chicago Fire.
But the deal is not done yet, it is said. Accordingly, the youngster still has to complete the medical check-up, and no personal details have yet been agreed. The Colombian also lacks a work permit to date.
Second most expensive sale in MLS history
Duran, who only signed on in MLS in the winter of 2022, could become the record sales in Chicago Fire history.
The US media is speculating about a transfer fee of 18 million dollars (approx. 16.6 million euros), which would mean that the South American would significantly exceed the sale of Gabriel Slonina to Chelsea. The “Blues” paid around nine million euros for the goalkeeper last summer.
Only Miguel Almiron flushed more money into the coffers of an MLS club. The services of the Atlanta United player cost Newcastle United around 24 million euros in the winter of 2019.
Aston Villa can confirm they have reached an agreement with Chicago Fire on the permanent transfer of 19-year-old forward Jhon Durán.
