Red Bull Salzburg returns to winning ways against KAC
EC Red Bull Salzburg is back on track!
The “Eisbullen” show a strong reaction to the 5-2 defeat in Villach and celebrate a narrow 3-2 home win over KAC in the 40th round of the win2day ICE Hockey League.
At the beginning, the Mozart city-dwellers seemed a little unsure, but KAC took advantage of this and went in front in the seventh minute of the game. Hundred pounds (7./PP) deducts between the hash marks and overcomes Salzburg keeper Tolvanen.
Salzburg pulls away, KAC saves itself in overtime
The lead lasted until the 27th minute of the game, then the Carinthians conceded the equalizer outnumbered. Mario Huber (28./PP) is served by Meyer and nets to 1:1. With this, the master also works the command in his own hall and starts an assault.
In the 33rd minute, Meyer scored from the right hashmarks to give the home side the familiar lead, and less than two minutes later, 19-year-old Heigl (34th) was able to celebrate his first second goal in the ICE Hockey League.
KAC have their backs to the wall and don’t give up – but are lucky when Salzburg have two shots from the post. But Ticar (57th) made it really exciting again in the final phase and Hochegger (60th) actually shot the guests into overtime 2.6 seconds before the end of the game. He successfully deflects a Postma shot.
KAC missed jump on playoff places
In overtime, Ganahl (63.) misses the greatest chance for KAC to score the winning goal, his wrist lands on the crossbar.
62 seconds before the end of extra time, Loney (64th) crowns his strong performance and inserts a wraparound.
Salzburg maintain third place with 75 points, KAC remains in seventh place with 55 points and thus just outside the playoff places.
