A regular government with a BSP mandate is unlikely, believes Nadezhda Yordanova from “Democratic Bulgaria”
There are no particularly high chances that the BSP will regularly form the parliament with the third mandate and respond to the key challenges facing Bulgaria. The thesis was developed by Nadezhda Yordanova from “Democratic Bulgaria” (DB) before it became clear that President Rumen Radev was handing the third mandate to the BSP, according to a press release of the DB.
Today at noon, the head of state announced that he will give a third and final mandate to members of the cabinet within the framework of the 48th National Assembly of the fifth political force – “BSP for Bulgaria”.
According to Yordanova, the bodies of the three parties in the DB will decide how to proceed. “We have very serious differences with the BSP regarding the war in Ukraine and the measures necessary to limit Russian influence in Bulgaria. We would hardly support a government with their mandate”, said the representative, quoted in the information.
The former Minister of Justice also believes that the new postponement of the reforms necessary for Bulgaria’s accession to Schengen and the Eurozone, as well as for the absorption of the funds under the Recovery and Sustainability Plan, may prove fatal. “Schengen is extremely important for completing the integration in Bulgaria. Without deep reform of the prosecutor’s office and without accountability of the chief prosecutor, we cannot join. Reforms must happen now, because we have already built up a serious defense,” she warned. According to her, it is particularly important for Bulgaria to be part of the club of some member states that make the most significant economic decisions in Europe.
