Covid-19. Tested in Portugal 68 plane passengers coming from China
Portugal tested, this Saturday, for Covid-19, 68 passengers who traveled on a plane from China, informed the Minister of Health, Manuel Pizarro.
“Today, a second plane from China filled up and all passengers over 12 years old had a test in less than 48 hours,” he told journalists, after paying tribute to doctor João Pedro Miller Guerra, in Vila Flor, in the district of Bragança.
Manuel Pizarro said that “of the 182 passengers, 111 were in transit” and that “68 passengers were randomly tested”.
These tests are being analyzed by the National Institute of Health Doctor Ricardo Jorge, referring, assuring that “the Portuguese can be calm” and making a “call for vaccination” (new phase), which in the meantime has opened to people between the 18 and 49 years old.
China has recorded close to 60,000 deaths related to Covid-19 since the lifting of strict restrictions to combat the disease a month ago.
Portugal is carrying out random Covid-19 tests on travelers from that country since the 7th and requires a test carried out up to 48 hours before boarding since the 8th.
Portugal joined Austria, Germany, Sweden and Belgium, which had already announced the carrying out of tests for travelers from China.
The measure comes after the European Union “strongly” recommended that Member States require all travelers in the country to have a negative test for covid-19 carried out less than 48 hours before departure.
