Live | Avignon – Cécile Helle: “2023 will be the culmination of projects”
On April 5, it will be nine years since Cécile Helle left her mark on Avignon. Nine years that she has redesigned the city, making decisions, never backing down, despite criticism, to give the city “her” vision of a city of the popes by 2030, even 2050. Her method is sometimes criticized but his will, despite the pitfalls, is never altered. According to her, 2023 will be the culmination of many projects, particularly urban ones. “We all feel that the period is not simple. We have been in a context of adversity for three years. We must continue to mobilize and commit to moving the city forward. I am positive and remain realistic. What I remember from the two years of Covid is our ability to unite, stick together, show solidarity and help each other. This allowed us to get through this period without great difficulty, to relaunch as soon as possible and to continue our dynamic. I am optimistic about urban development with a series of projects that I have been fighting for for years. They are now in the operational phase. The urban renewal plan is entering an active phase.”
Halfway through her second term, Cécile Helle defended her choices. It evokes the Faubourgs plan, the tram, the developments on the banks of the Rhône, cleanliness, commerce, the attractiveness of the city.
