Challengers Portugal starts this Saturday
THE VALORANT Challengers Portugal: Tempest announced the start of the competition and more details about it. The first phase starts on the weekend of January 14th and 15th, where two rounds will be played, from 3 pm to 7 pm. The competition will be divided into two phases, with a combined prize pool of €25,000.
Each phase will consist of a total of 14 rounds, followed by a Playoffs phase to determine the winners of each phase. The first phase ends on February 20th with the 14th round, to then proceed to the Playoffs, which begin to be played from the weekend of February 25th and 26th.
There will be 8 teams present at the competition: GTZ Esports, Panthers Esports, FTW Esports, SAW, EGN Esports, VIKINGS FOURTEEN, Impulse GW and EX0TIK.
In the first round, the public will be able to watch VIKINGS FOURTEEN against Panthers Esports, Impulse GW will face FTW Esports, EGN Esports will play with EX0TIK and finally, to close the day, you will be able to see the long-awaited confrontation between SAW and GTZ Esports.
For the first time, the Portuguese competition of VALORANTwill have access to the VALORANT Challengers Ascension EMEA tournament, which is the gateway to the biggest competition in the world, the VALORANT Champions Tour, starting in 2024.
Qualification for the Ascension tournament will be done through a scoring system assigned to autonomous teams based on their classification in the two phases of the competition. Only the best team will be able to access the European competition. The first place in the first phase receives 105 points, the second 75 and the third 60. Points will be awarded up to the seventh place.
The second phase of the competition kicks off on the weekend of April 1st and 2nd, with the first two rounds taking place from 3 pm to 7 pm. The journeys extend weekly until the weekend of May 13th and 14th, where the 14th round of the second phase will be fought.
This is followed by the promotion and relegation phase on the 20th and 21st of May, in a format yet to be announced. Then it’s time for the final playoffs, scheduled for the 3rd, 4th, 10th and 11th of June.
