A regrettable departure for the future of the club
AS Monaco was able to extricate itself from a very perilous situation during its trip to Moustoir. Indeed, after the opening score of Breel Embolo, the Monegasques conceded two goals in two minutes apart and had to rely on Wissam Ben Yedder in the last moments. A draw which comes to save in extremis Philippe Clément who seemed promised a departure in the event of a misstep following the premature elimination of his team in the Coupe de France.

AS Monaco’s winter transfer window is a reflection of what the Monegasque team presents on the pitch: an enigma. After the departure of Benoît Badiashile, no replacement seemed ready to settle down in Monaco and it was not the catastrophic performances of Malang Sarr that would reassure the supporters. Another major problem, the non-arrival of Danilo, the Brazilian from Palmeiras who was to expand a very limited midfield in quantity and quality. A major failure that finds its answer in the fact that the club was no free extra-community place. A bad management which echoes another quite similar situation and which questions the quality of the Monegasque leaders.
A dreaded departure for the future
Lisandru Olmeta is one of the most promising young goalkeepers of his generation. Son of the legendary and whimsical Pascal Olmeta, the European U17 champion impresses in the young Monegasque categories and the French selection. Enough to make the princely club want to keep the 17-year-old doorman to whom the club offered a first professional contract a few weeks ago. However, the goalkeeper is not at all convinced by the Monegasque project and especially the role he would get in it. If the financial question is far from being his concern, it is rather the management of the goalkeepers on the Rock that questions him. Indeed, few goalkeepers trained at the club have already had their chance in the long term and the very spendthrift club is accustomed to stopping a promising goalkeeper by bidding on a goalkeeper more prominent in the media. Thus, since the rumors of Alexander Nübel’s departure have multiplied, the club is monitoring Dominik Livakovic and other goalkeepers of the future enough to block the young prodigy for many years. This is why Lisandru Olmeta takes his time, especially since there is no shortage of suitors since the player is followed by a lot of English clubs who see him as their future number 1 goalkeeper. Thus, Manchester City is the more interested but Chelsea, West Ham, Leeds or Manchester United are watching the grain and would take a dim view of Pascal Olmeta’s son joining the Citizens. Stade Rennais is also interested in the French international U 18 whose club would keep making him its 3rd goalkeeper under the mentorship of a huge figure in French football and the goalkeeper position of but like Steve Mandanda.
It remains to be seen whether Lisandru Olmeta will choose to stay with the principality or want to export his talents to big English teams where the guarantee of playing regularly is not greater. However, Manchester City seems to be the preferred destination for the player since he could be loaned to ESTAC Troyes, partner club and member of the City Football Group, to harden up in Ligue 1, or even Ligue 2, and would be the number 2 behind Mateusz Liz given the almost official departure of Gauthier Gallon. Anyway, AS Monaco will have to provide sporting rather than economic guarantees to hope to keep a nugget that could bring big money to the club in the distant future.
