Zurich Airport was able to more than double the number of passengers in 2022

In 2022, Zurich Airport more than doubled the number of passengers compared to the previous year. A total of 22.6 million passengers flew through Switzerland’s largest airport last year, after 10.2 million passengers in 2021.

After a first quarter that was still marked by the corona pandemic, the number of passengers at Zurich Airport recovered significantly over the course of the year, the airport announced on Thursday. The number of passengers in the first half of the year rose from 15,000 in some cases to as many as 90,000 on peak days.
Although the number of passengers exceeded the forecasts, they were still below the years before the corona pandemic. Compared to the pre-Corona year 2019, passenger numbers last year were 72 percent
The number of flight movements was 216,584 in 2022, which corresponded to an increase of 63 percent. Compared to 2019, the number of flight movements was 79 percent. A total of 422,153 tonnes of freight were also handled at Zurich Airport in 2022. Compared to the previous year, there was an increase of 7 percent. (sda/awp)
