Stand in Lisbon will promote the region and attract investment in MIPIM 2023
The real estate sector is getting ready for MIPIM 2023, which returns to Cannes from March 14th to 17th. The Lisbon region will once again be present at the event, one of the most important city and real estate fairs in the world, in a joint stand promoted by InvestLisboa, which has already taken more than 200 partners to fairs of the kind in recent years.
Diogo Ivo Cruz, director of InvestLisboa, participated this Thursday in the Meet Up Lisboa, an anticipation event for MIPIM promoted by Iberian Property, highlighting this «opportunity to expand networking at the highest level with the presence of several policy makers, international real estate decision makers and top investors»it’s from «valuing the Lisbon brand and the region itself».
Still without the final number, Diogo Ivo Cruz advanced that Lisbon’s bench this year will have «between 4 and 5 municipalities», including the Lisbon City Council and some who participated for the first time, in a joint effort to promote the entire Lisbon region. It will also host several partner private companies that want to align.
In 2023, the region’s stand will be located in the same location, next to the main access point, a location that it considers «privileged». The stand will be designed by Contacto Atlântico.
“It is at MIPIM that capital finds you”. And attracting capital “is critical”
Albert Castro, representative of MIPIM, highlighted the importance of the participation of real estate companies in the event, since «it is at MIPIM that capital finds you». MIPIM receives more than 20,000 people, more than 50% of those who thought Decision makersover 2,000 real estate investment and finance companies, and people from over 80 countries. «In MIPIM, people and cities can present their identity».
Hugo Santos Ferreira, President of APPII, highlighted in his presentation that “all [imobiliário] we need to attract this capital, since real estate is experiencing a lot of international investment, and Portugal does not have a lot of capital, we have to go get it from abroad. And for cities it is also important to attract companies and investors, it is in MIPIM that this capital is found». Believe that the fair is «the meeting point of excellence for the international investment market», is that «those who are in MIPIM, are in the real estate world».
For the association leader, the “joint strength” for the participation of municipalities and companies in the same stand «was the great success of previous editions, and especially last year. A joint effort between private individuals and City Councils is extremely important in contacting international investors, the efforts of local authorities give comfort to investors, and when City Councils take their territories to these international events, it is important that they also take their companies and their economy “.
And because MIPIM is not just 3 days, you have to prepare your presence to make the most of that day. Albert Castro recommends accessing the event’s database, which provides more information about participants and their area of activity, among other information. «Define yourselves, and define your target», appeal.
Competitiveness, employability or knowledge: engines for growth in Lisbon
As part of an economic strategy “of the people and for the people”, Lisbon goes to MIPIM with its well-founded economic priorities. According to Diogo Moura, councilor for the Economy of Lisbon City Council, the engines for growth are global competitiveness, employability, the creation of strategic clusters, knowledge or the Scale-up City. In the vision of the municipality, Lisbon must strive to be global, innovative, intelligent, sustainable: «we want it to assert itself as one of the main world capitals. And the transformation and affirmation of the city are done together with all the city’s stakeholders».
Among the main anchor projects of this strategy are the affirmation of the Hub Criativo do Beato as an innovative hub on a European scale for the installation of entrepreneurs, creative companies and multinational companies, through mentoring and scalea “unicorn factory” that already has 34 mentoring partners for these programs and 28 risk capital.
Another of the highlighted projects is the Hub Azul, a hub for companies and a Shared Ocean Lab that will emerge at the Pedrouços dock, linked to themes of the economy of the sea, and which promises to create «a new pole of centrality». On the cultural front, the renovation of Parque Mayer, for which a concession tender is already being drawn up, aims to return it to the city, with a housing and commercial component, «always having the cultural component at its base».
Diogo Moura concludes that «our mission to create a sustainable, creative and innovative city, maintaining this consideration on a global scale, will only work if we all join together, attracting the city’s living forces, companies and investors. It is a city of the future. These objectives can only be fulfilled if all forms part of this solution».
Creation and consolidation of new centralities are among the focuses of Urbanism
Joana Almeida, Councilor for Urbanism at CML, reiterates that «we are working with all our energy to bring very interesting information to MIPIM»and attests that «we continue to have many investors interested in investing in the city of Lisbon». He reaffirmed that «it is our objective to promote a balanced and proximity urbanism policy on a neighborhood scale»ensuring «the balance between the different functions and urban experiences of the city, the rehabilitation and enhancement of the old city, implementing a strategy for consolidating the city, involving society in the reflection and construction of city policies».
Taking a brief look at the situation of urban planning in Lisbon, after just over a year of being mandatory, he recalled the creation of the program “Há vida no Meu Bairro”, the development of several operations of systematic urban rehabilitation in the ARUs of the city, or the consolidation work of more than 1,000 hectares that the PDM identifies as “areas to consolidate”. «We already have 55 hectares with approved execution units, and we are working on another 104 hectares currently under development».
In addition, new centralities are being worked on in the Urban Planning of CML, namely in Beato/Marvila, Chelas, Vale de Santo António, Entrecampos, Praça de Espanha/Sete Rios/Campolide, Alta de Lisboa, Alcântara or Pedrouços.
In terms of licensing, the CML already decides more processes than those that enter the municipality, and reaffirms its commitment to «speed, clarity, communication and transparency». The Municipal Urban Planning Commission was created, the program “As Minhas Obras”, or the figure of the Project Manager, and the municipality is also working on clarifying the norms of the PDM, RGEU or RMUEL. The councilwoman concludes: «we count on you in this work of improving the quality of life and development of the city».
Interactive GEO-IP map will capture attention at the stand
The Lisbon stand will again feature the new georeferenced platform focused on promoting the Lisbon region and its investment opportunities – GEO-IP – Lisbon Geo-Investment Platform, created by the technology company Evolutio, in partnership with Confidencial Imobiliário.
It is an interactive map of the city, with various information rates, including market price indexes from Confidencial Imobiliário or news, a view of infrastructures, mobility, licensing, among others, designed to be an interactive experience to capture attention. David Vaz, from Evolutio, explains that «the idea is to present the city and its assets in a dynamic, interactive and credible way»in an intense event in which «it is necessary to effectively capture people’s attention, this will be the starting point for subsequent conversations».
