Guerreiro do Divino Amora young Swiss-Brazilian artist, was selected for the Swiss Pavilion Venice Biennale 2024which will open in April this year.
The Swiss Pavilion is located in the Giardini, one of the two main areas of the Venice Biennale. The Giardini are the site of many of the busiest national pavilions.
The artist, who bears his full name, will work on the pavilion with curator Andrea Bellini, director of the Center d’Art Contemporain and the Biennale de l’Image en Mouvement in Geneva. In this museum, Bellini organized an exhibition of the work of Guerreiro do Divino Amor last year.
Guerreiro do Divino Amor’s Venice Biennale project will be titled “Super Superior Civilizations” and will “examine the multiple entanglements of our globalized existence that have been influenced by aspects such as postcolonial distortion,” according to the pavilion’s announcement. It is part of a larger project by the artist called “Superfictions” which includes digital elements, installations, films and performative conferences.
The artist was born in Geneva and now lives in Rio de Janeiro. With only a few solo exhibitions in his CV, he is now facing one of his first major exhibitions at the Venice Biennale.
The Swiss Pavilion is one of the few national pavilions announced so far for the 2024 Venice Biennale. Julien Creuzet represents France, Pakui Hardware represents Lithuania and Edith Karlson represents Estonia. Meanwhile, Adriano Pedrosa will organize the main exhibitionwhich is not connected to the country pavilions.
